Rebecca's paintings are a combination of reality and imagination, giving her work a surreal and dream-like quality. Rebecca paints places she’s been to, and works from sketches and photographs.
Rebecca’s older collection is a mixture of Indian ink and acrylic paint. Rebecca paints-out the first layer of her image. While the materials are in the process of drying, water is gently applied onto the image, leaching away parts of the painting and creating a fluid effect. The paintings are then worked on again whilst still wet. This process is repeated until a balance between detail and expression is reached.
Rebecca Hunter studied at Camberwell College of Art and Design and Canterbury Christ Church.
